WHAT WE DID
We have produced a 35-minute animated film that guides visitors through a reimagined version of the works of legendary Dutch Masters. The film closely examines the paintings of Jeroen Bosch, Breugel, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Mondrian, and explores new ways to bring their art to life.
We sought to honor the artistic signature of the painters by finding a unique angle to showcase their work, from the twisted figures of Jeroen Bosch to the swirling dotted brushstrokes of Van Gogh.
Caption 1As the visitor enters the main hall of the Remastered exhibition, they are disoriented in a room filled with clocks, creating a sense of anticipation as they count down to the start of the show.
Following a time-lapse sequence that guides the audience through the formation of the Earth, we reveal a landscape inspired by Jeroen Bosch, capturing his fantastical castles, whimsical characters, and iconic swallows. Jeroen is presented as a young giant, guiding us through his realm to showcase his remarkable creations.
The third chapter focuses on Pieter Bruegel the Elder, known for "Triumph of Death." We amplify a section of the painting, immersing the viewer amidst the chaos of skeletons and towering horses, creating an intense and intimidating experience.
Chapter five delves into the world of Johannes Vermeer, known for his middle-class domestic scenes. We immerse the audience in a life-sized dollhouse, showcasing Vermeer’s works categorized by angle and composition. The interior is styled with furnishings and decor true to 17th-century Dutch aesthetics.
In this chapter, we focus on Vincent Van Gogh's landscapes. By exploring connections and overlaps, we crafted a storyline that seamlessly guides viewers through his iconic works, forming the basis for our particle simulations and creating a captivating kinetic art display.
The final section of the Remastered Show highlights Piet Mondrian’s influence, paired with rhythmic music to complement his work.
Staying true to his style, we carefully examined each piece to craft a compelling narrative. Beginning with his signature colors and fundamental elements, we animate his masterpieces, like Broadway Boogie-Woogie, Victory Boogie Woogie, and Composition with Red, Blue, and Yellow, leading to a vibrant finale.
